12 volt motor

Hey friends, 
Spoke with Penn State Industries today. My 110 volt motor on my Viel 1X42 burned out the other day. The 12 volt mini lathe motor is out of stock until mid February. I’ve been wanting to upgrade to one of these for awhile now. Now my main belt sander is out of commission. Does anyone know if another supplier sells these motor kits? Or maybe someone has one of these kits that they would sell me? Anyway, let me know if y’all can help.

Hello, I'm sorry to learn this about your Viel motor and it makes me a little nervous about mine.  For some time I've been very intrigued by a certain industrial sewing machine motor that is currently being used by AMK Tactical (they manufacturer a 1" X 30" knife sharpening machine).  This is a variable speed, brushless ¾ hp motor that is reversable.  Go to this site to see their sharpening machine and video:

For the record I have nothing to do with AMK or Allbrands in Louisiana.  I'm merely considering this motor as a possible replacement on my knife sharpening machine which is similar to the AMK.  Originally, it was a 1" X 30" machine that I converted to 1" X 42" so I could use the same belts as my Viel.

Although some modification would be necessary to attach this motor to a Viel, I hope above information might be interesting to you.
