Maybe the air
4 months ago the same knifemaker Peter Bald scored in the Adelaide show 35 or 25 BESS on a different PT50B, and test done by a different person.
The winning knife has 34 degrees included edge, and Peter says it took him 30 min on Edge Pro to sharpen it.
When I took the first measurements, the knife scored 50 to 35 BESS along the edge - Peter said he didn't touch the knife since the last show; he gave it a few strokes on a paddle strop to remove the oxidation, and the knife scored 25 BESS.
The Metal Monkey Knives have all knives 90-95 BESS sharp, telling of a very consistent sharpening method.
Fabian's FK knives also initially scored 90 BESS - I advised him to strop on a clean leather strop to get rid of the oxidation layer, and the knife scored 75 BESS.
In his photo you see massive fighters close to where my son stands - they scored 160 BESS, and I tell you it is not easy to get such sharpness on that heavy big knives. For comparison, the famous ROCKSTEAD folding knives scored 160 BESS.
