I guess your nonchalance is a good sign that it wasn't too concerning for you. I didn't know heart attacks were secondary to carrying a shaving sharp knife, but if you say so....
I would certainly agree that carrying a razor sharp blade is mandatory. A guy never knows when he might need to do a little shaving or open heart surgery or whatever.
FYI, M390, S35VN and S30V are all highly corrosion resistant, and capable of holding a very fine edge for a long time, as long as you don't use them much.
I just checked a couple of my knives that have EdgePro polished edges. I haven't touched up either one in years, but they're both holding < BESS 60.
I will bust out the EP and freshen all my polished edges in joy of your continued health, Mr. Ken.
