Mr Ken, this really goes to show that our feelings for striking up new threads leads to more fun! You just never know where any given topic will wind up.
I would like to point out something about BKF that I learned from a Very knowledgeable, excellent sharpener. I only know him by his handle on Bladeforums, Mr cbwx34. He is a wise Gentleman.
You can test this for yourself, as I have, after it was pointed out by Mr cbwx34.
When cleaning ceramic with BKF, it’s actually easier than you’d think. No scrubbing is required. Like None.
Surprisingly, al you need do is coat your ceramic and go about other business. Come back 10 minutes to 10 years later and rinse them off.
No need for gloves or chapped fingers. The oxalic acid does the work so you don’t have toooooooooooo!
