Is Supergrit just calling this a Deer?  DEER JS 997 Blue Ceramic J-Flex Cloth Belts?

The 150 is a good belt too. I let the tool do the work with light pressure. In most cases the flexibility of the belt doesn't make much difference.

Fascinating video, Max. I like the homespun way you include a lot of solid sharpening information. After enjoying this video, I watched several of your videos. Your inclusion of the damage from dishwashers is a definite cautionary tale.

My quiet personal time is very early in the morning, before my wife and grandchildren awake. I look forward to mornings enjoying your videos with some java.

Recently I was repairing broken tip of an old stabbing weapon also with convex saber grind.



The history of this shortened sabre is interesting. It was originally probably gendarmerie saber used in Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy in the second half of the 19 century. When the owner died and the family had not the necessary license, the saber was officially broken. From the broken part a shorter stabbing weapon was made. This is especially well visible on the shortened sabretache. The total length now is 40 cm (16") only.

Your sabre story is fascinating. You have rediscovered the very effective Roman short sword! 
Too bad that the authorities found it necessary to break the sword. In our age of very lethal weapons, a sword hardly seems a major threat.

i bought 10 of the 150's about a month ago to try.........i liked them......but compared to some, they went away fast
they might still be on sale

what i failed to mention in this video is this really only applies to banger knives (CHEAP) made in china stuff...cheap steel.

cutting tomatoes with high end knives has never been an issue  - i likem.

my goal is trying to get the lower end knives sharper.
